About Course
Who should attend: Senior support workers, team leaders, care coordinators, administrators, and quality leads — anyone with day-to-day responsibility for record accuracy in their team.
Every member of staff who creates, edits, or uses a care record is a data steward with a defined responsibility for its accuracy and safe use — not just “IT’s job” or “the manager’s job.” This course builds a practical, non-technical understanding of stewardship roles within a care service.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain what a data steward is and why every record has an owner
- Identify your own stewardship responsibilities for the records you create or update
- Describe the escalation route when a data quality issue is outside your authority to fix
- Apply the 10 dimensions of data quality when reviewing records you are responsible for
- Distinguish between individual stewardship and organisational governance responsibilities
Framework alignment: Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 (Regulation 17 – good governance); Records Management Code of Practice 2021; the Caldicott Principles; CQC Single Assessment Framework (Well-Led, Safe); Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT).
